Hello world! This is Christine Cooper, author, with my first update on the very first book I’m writing. While I have always enjoyed writing and it is something I do often, it is not a natural feel for me to write this much and over this extended period of time.

How it started

Officially, I started in February; however, I struggled to write on a daily basis. Instead, I wrote about once every two weeks, and each session typically resulted in about 500 words..

Unofficially, I started in late May because that’s when I found my stride for writing daily. With steadily writing daily, I stretched myself to write 800 words per day. It felt like I would never reach 10,000 words, let alone my goal of 60,000 words!

The day after I made it to 5000 words, I had a day where things started to flow. All of a sudden I wrote almost 2500 words in a day! I realized that I really do have something to say about finding value in others to improve lives, and oh wow, did it fly out of me that day!

Once I got that feeling of not having the right words behind me, I figured out how to collect my thoughts and be persistent with my work. I am consistently writing 1000-1500 words per day now.

Where things stand now

I am at the halfway point to 60,000, and I couldn’t have imagined reaching this point when I was at 10,000 words. I had definitely wondered how I was going to triple those 10,000 words that took so long to create in the first place!

Now that I have accomplished 30,000 words, it does again intimidate me to think about needing to double them. However, I also know that every day gets me closer to my goal.

When I finish, I will think back and smile about how I did what I didn’t think I could do. (And then the real work can begin with editing this semi-organized jumble of thoughts and words I am creating.)

It’s not just about what you do, but how you do it — keep in mind that good things take time (and patience)!
